DISABILITY agencies in Burwood and Chadstone will receive new cars as part of a $3.5 million statewide transport upgrade.
The E.W. Tipping Foundation in Burwood and Holmesglen TAFE in Chadstone are just two of 111 centres to receive vehicles through the State Government program.
Agencies in the southern suburbs have received the highest funds in the state, with 35 sharing in almost $938,000.
The Department of Human Services’ disability services division will fund up to 60 per cent of the cars, including on-road and disability adaption costs.
State Labor MP for Burwood Mr Bob Stensholt said the cars would ensure the two centres continue to do a “magnificent job” in helping people with disabilities in the community.
“This will mean that the people helped by these agencies will continue to be able to undertake a wide variety of programs as well as make use of health and other service,” Mr Stensholt said.
“These new vehicles will also be available to other agencies and community groups when they are not in use by the disability centres,” he said.
