MULGRAVE residents John and Natalie Poynton are the lucky Victorian winners of Fairfax Community Newspapers’ (FCN) Internet competition.
Keeping abreast of local issues by reading The Monash Journal online has paid off for the couple, who have won airfares and accommodation at the Surfers Aquarius Resort on the Gold Coast for two adults and two children.
To enter the competition, readers were asked to visit our Website and submit comments about what they liked and disliked about the site. The winner was drawn randomly.
Mr Poynton said the family was excited about the trip.
“I have never won anything major before,” he said.
“The last thing I won was a pocket radio when I was eight.”
The competition was open to readers of FCN’s 17 Victorian mastheads and 10 New South Wales mastheads.
More than 2000 readers in both states entered the competition, which ran for four weeks.
Of the entries, 1392, or 67%, were from Victoria.
The Monash Journal ranked fifth of the 27 papers for generating reader entries.
A winner was also announced in New South Wales.
