CHISHOLM MP Anna Burke hosted her first primary school captains’ forum at Syndal South Primary School.

All Monash primary schools in the electorate were invited, with Mt Waverley North, Essex Heights, Syndal South, Pinewood, Sussex Heights, Glendal, St Peter’s, Christ our Holy Redeemer, and Holy Family primary schools attending.

“This is the first time I have invited students from primary schools in the city of Monash to a forum to discuss issues of importance to them,” the Federal Labor MP said.

“It is often said that politicians don’t listen enough to the concerns of young people. I found the school leaders present to be full of ideas and eager to make a contribution.”

Ms Burke said issues raised included communication with parents and teachers, the need for safety on public transport, concerns over school funding and the closure of banks.
